SA Steelworks Division has a position for a committed, hardworking and motivated Handyman at our SA Steelworks plant in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for general painting and maintenance of buildings and offices. Responsibilities Assist with maintenance on buildings, workshops and office spaces Painting of fabricated structures, parts, equipment and machinery Ensure painting work is performed in well‑ventilated areas Load, unload and move tools, equipment and materials Ensure workspace is kept neat and tidy (housekeeping) Ensure tools and equipment are kept clean and operational for tasks to be completed Perform basic plumbing repairs Perform basic woodwork functions – cutting of floor boards and panels Perform basic welding and cutting operations (advantage) Qualifications Hard working and self‑motivated Comfortable working at heights Ability to operate forklift, cherry picker, scissor lift and overhead crane Previous experience with painting and surface preparation Basic familiarity with hand tools and equipment: tape measure, hacksaw, drilling machine (pedestal and portable), angle grinder, spirit level, jigsaw Strict adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Matric certificate or equivalent; Grade 11 will also be considered Ability to work under challenging conditions In good health, physically fit Position Handyman – Boilershop Department Type Permanent Benefits Provident fund Group life cover Funeral cover 15 working days leave per annum Hours 07:30 – 17:00 Monday‑Thursday07:30 – 16:00 Friday May be required to work overtime as per operational requirements.
