The Procurement Controller supports the procurement function by controlling day-to-day purchasing activities, ensuring accurate ordering, cost awareness, supplier coordination, and compliance with internal procedures. The role focuses on stock availability, price accuracy, and supporting margin control within a liquor redistribution environment. Key Responsibilities Procurement & Purchasing Control Process and control purchase orders for liquor and related products in line with approved demand and budgets Request, compare, and capture supplier pricing and quotations Ensure correct pricing, pack sizes, and supplier terms are loaded and maintained on the system Monitor purchase price changes and escalate variances to management Supplier Coordination Liaise with approved liquor suppliers, brand owners, and distributors regarding orders and deliveries Follow up on outstanding orders and resolve delivery discrepancies Assist with supplier documentation and basic compliance requirements Stock & Availability Control Support stock planning by ensuring timely replenishment of fast-moving products Assist in monitoring slow-moving and short-dated stock risks Coordinate with warehouse and sales teams to avoid stock-outs or over-ordering Compliance & Administration Ensure all procurement documentation is accurate, approved, and filed Maintain purchase order, delivery note, and invoice records Support stock counts, audits, and basic procurement reporting Adhere to liquor industry compliance requirements and internal controls Reporting & Systems Capture and maintain accurate procurement data on ERP or accounting systems Prepare basic procurement and stock reports for review by management Assist with cost tracking, rebates, and supplier price updates Key Skills & Competencies Good numerical and analytical skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy Basic understanding of procurement and stock control principles Confident communication with suppliers and internal teams Competent in Microsoft Excel and procurement systems Personal Attributes Eager to learn and develop in procurement Reliable and well-organised Cost-conscious and detail-focused Able to work in a fast-paced distribution environment Requirements Matric / Grade 12 (required) BCOM Degree Certificate or Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Business (advantageous) 1–2 years’ experience in procurement, buying, or stock administration Exposure to FMCG, liquor wholesale, or distribution environments (advantageous) Benefits Group life and Funeral cover Provident fund Competitive remuneration #J-18808-Ljbffr
