Job Title: Survey AssistantOperation: Technical Service ManagementPurpose and Role in the Business: Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Surveyor Assistant. The successful applicants will be responsible for assisting Surveyors with the coordination and execution of daily surveying activities. This includes maintaining survey instruments and equipment, operating machinery required to perform survey tasks, and ensuring that all survey activities are conducted safely and efficiently in compliance with company and MHSA standards. Key Responsibilities Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental standards. Identify and report any unsafe or hazardous conditions in the work area and actively participate in safety meetings. Conduct pre‑use inspections of survey equipment, including Total Stations, GPS units, Scanners, Survey Tools, LDVs, and Manlifts, ensuring all equipment is clean, functional, and fully charged. Immediately report any defects, damage, or missing equipment to the supervisor. Assist Surveyors in measuring infrastructure in accordance with established surveying standards and procedures. Support the Surveyor with volumetric quantification of both surface and underground production. Assist in the establishment and expansion of surface and underground surveying networks. Operate LDVs and Manlifts safely for the installation of survey beacons and underground survey pegs. Education & Qualifications Grade 12 with Mathematics (essential). Basic Mine Surveying Certificate (advantageous). Manitou Operator’s Licence (advantageous). Experience Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a mine surveying environment (essential). Other Requirements Valid Code B/EB driver’s licence (advantageous). Ability to pass a Dover Symbol B assessment. Medically fit for duty and able to work at heights. Basic Firefighting and First Aid knowledge. Understanding of underground health and safety practices. Awareness of common harmful gases and vapours in mining environments. #J-18808-Ljbffr
