An exciting opportunity exists for a seasoned Procurement Manager to lead the procurement function within a dynamic and fast-paced civil construction environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sourcing, purchasing, and ensuring the timely delivery of quality materials and serviceswhile maintaining control over budget and project timelines. This is a senior-level role overseeing procurement clerks and store operations, ensuring that every procurement decision adds value to project execution and long-term supplier relationships. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end procurement operations, ensuring alignment with project requirements and budgets. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to forecast material and equipment needs across multiple sites. Source and negotiate with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors for quality, cost-effective outcomes. Draft, manage, and enforce procurement and supplier contracts in compliance with relevant regulations. Oversee stores department functions and reconcile Build Smart (RIBS) stock accurately. Monitor and control procurement documentation, including purchase orders, delivery receipts, and invoices. Support internal audits with detailed and accurate record-keeping. Supervise, mentor, and develop procurement team members, including clerks and buyers. Identify cost-saving opportunities through data analysis and strategic sourcing initiatives. Requirements Education & Certifications Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, or related field. Postgraduate qualifications (MBA or Masters) are advantageous. Additional certifications such as CPSM, PMP, CIPS, or Lean Six Sigma are beneficial. Experience Minimum of 35 years in a procurement management role, preferably in the civil construction or infrastructure sector. Technical Skills Solid understanding of construction materials, procurement workflows, and supplier development. Experience with ERP/procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Procore, Build Smart). Working knowledge of relevant compliance frameworks including B-BBEE and the POPI Act. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Soft Skills Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. Strong analytical thinking and a problem-solving mindset. High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and ethical conduct. Adaptability and resilience in a fast-moving, project-driven environment.
