Social Worker – The Haven Night Shelter Welfare Organisation Location: Cape Town Salary: R 15 300 per month Employment Type: Full time, Permanent Application Deadline: 29 May 2026 Job Description The Haven Night Shelter Welfare Organisation, a non‑governmental organisation working to help the homeless back to a home, family and community, requires a Social Worker for the Haven Kensington Shelter. The post is based at the Haven night shelter and provides social work services to more than 60 clients at any one time. The Social Worker will be responsible for all social work services, the development and monitoring of Personal Development Plans (PDPs) and Exit plans for all clients, and will report to the Shelter Manager and Social Work Supervisor. Key Responsibilities Deliver all social work services to clients. Develop and monitor PDPs and Exit plans for clients. Report to the Shelter Manager and Social Work Supervisor. Present group work within 3 weeks of taking over, starting with at least 10 hours of group work per week. Schedule and conduct reviews, including planning and monitoring exit dates. Maintain client confidentiality and comply with SIDSSP requirements. Qualifications and Requirements Qualified Social Worker registered with SACSSP in South Africa. Code B drivers licence (essential). 2–3 years of social work experience, preferably in the NGO sector. Experience in protecting client information. Ability to develop and manage Personal Development Plans and Exit Plans. Experience scheduling reviews, including exit date reviews. Ability to work well with a team. Computer literacy – MS Outlook, MS Word and Excel. Ability to work under minimal supervision. Fluency in English; a second language would be beneficial. No criminal record.
