About the role: The Draughtsman (Design & Manufacturing Support) is responsible for producing accurate and detailed 2D and 3D drawings for industrial fan systems and related components.The role focuses on creating fabrication-ready drawings, maintaining drawing control systems, and supporting the workshop with clear technical documentation to ensure efficient and accurate manufacturing. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that all products are correctly translated from concept into manufacturable designsResponsibilities: Drafting & Design Support Develop detailed 2D and 3D drawings using CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, Solid Edge) Prepare general arrangement, assembly, and fabrication drawings Ensure drawings are accurate, complete, and aligned with company standards Maintain drawing registers, revisions, and document control systems Fabrication & Workshop Support Produce clear and practical fabrication drawings for workshop use Generate cutting lists, BOMs, and sheet metal development layouts Provide drawing support to workshop teams during manufacturing and assembly Resolve drawing-related issues with fabrication staff Quality & Documentation Control Ensure all drawings meet internal quality standards and specifications Maintain structured drawing libraries and revision control Support quality control documentation through clear drawings and markups Assist in standardizing drawing templates and formats Product Development Support Assist engineers with updating and modifying existing designs Support the development of new fan products through drawing updates and revisions Prepare drawings for prototype builds and testing Cross-Functional Support Liaise with production, sales, procurement, and engineering teams Assist with technical documentation required for projects and quotations Support continuous improvement of drawing efficiency and standardization Minimum Requirements South African Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34. Must not have participated on the YES Programme before. Matric. Draughting Qualification Technical Skills Strong drafting and drawing interpretation capability Good understanding of fabrication processes (welding, sheet metal, machining) Experience creating fabrication drawings and assemblies Basic knowledge of BOM creation and workshop requirements Exposure to industrial fans or HVAC systems (advantageous) Competencies & Attributes High attention to detail and drawing accuracy Practical understanding of manufacturing Good communication with workshop personnel Organized and strong document control discipline Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Accuracy and completeness of drawings Reduction in workshop errors due to drawing issues Drawing turnaround time Quality of fabrication documentation (BOMs, layouts, GA drawings) Effectiveness of drawing control and revision systems Please consider your application unsuccessful when you have not heard from the Signa Opportunity team within two weeks of submitting your application
