Enterprise Systems Specialist: Backup and Disaster Recovery - (8712) To support and administer enterprise backup, recovery, and disaster recovery services within ICTS. The role is responsible for ensuring the availability, integrity, recoverability, and protection of enterprise systems, data, and infrastructure through the effective management of backup environments, disaster recovery processes, monitoring, testing, and operational support. Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field Relevant backup, disaster recovery or infrastructure certifications will be advantageous At least four (4) years’ experience in enterprise infrastructure or backup administration environments Experience with enterprise backup and recovery solutions Experience supporting virtualised and enterprise server environments Experience with disaster recovery procedures, testing and business continuity processes Experience in the Higher Education environment will be advantageous Experience with enterprise backup technologies such as Veeam or similar solutions Familiarity with VMware and virtualisation technologies Understanding of SAN, storage and enterprise infrastructure environments Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting and performance analysis Knowledge of scripting and automation fundamentalsUnderstanding of ITIL, change management and operational best practices Key Performance Areas & Principal Accountabilities Enterprise backup and recovery administration Disaster recovery and business continuity Linux and Windows server administration Infrastructure and storage support Monitoring and operational support Documentation and continuous improvement Participation in ICTS projects and initiatives Support services and shared operational duties Good understanding of disaster recovery and backup methodologies VMware and virtualisation knowledge SAN and storage management understanding Troubleshooting and problem solving skills Monitoring and reporting skillsTechnical documentation skills Communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work under pressure and within a team Employment Equity The Cape Peninsula University of Technology is committed to Employment Equity and aims to attract and retain talented individuals to achieve our equity objectives.
