Overview The Data Operations Group (Data Ops), part of Fitch’s Chief Data Office (CDO), is seeking a Senior Data Analyst, in our Pretoria office. Senior Data Analysts will be responsible for collecting, manipulating, and managing economic time‑series data. They will develop new methodologies, content sets, and products, building deep subject‑matter expertise to support both internal and external users. This role drives the transformation of our data infrastructure, focusing on automating data collection and modernizing calculation methodologies within a new system. The Senior Data Analyst will be crucial in delivering data tasks and collaborating with teams across Data Ops and the wider CDO, supporting our market‑leading research team in London, New York, Singapore, and Pretoria. We’ll Count On You To Efficiently gather, manipulate and analyse time‑series data, and develop expertise on the sources and methodologies behind the numbers. Help migrate data, metadata and calculation methodologies from our legacy data infrastructure to a new platform built around Python, APIs and other technologies. Set up and run forecast models and review model output, while constantly seeking ways to further improve our models and methodologies. Collaborate with research analysts to ensure accurate and timely data in our products, and use the expertise you acquire to develop new content sets and products. Supervise and assist more junior data analysts and proactively coordinate colleagues to work on data projects. Maintain knowledge of the sources for, availability of and methodologies behind publicly available economic data. What You Need To Have Undergraduate degree in data science, statistics, economics or similar. Academic or professional experience working with macroeconomic or time‑series data. Proficiency in Python, particularly experience with web‑scraping, APIs or data manipulation. Exposure to economic forecasting and understanding of basic methodologies. Strong understanding of data pipelines and data integration workflows. Proficiency in Excel including commonly used formulas and techniques. What Would Make You Stand Out Experience applying specific time‑series forecasting methodologies. Understanding of data governance principles and workflow management. Experience working with Decisions (business process automation and workflow platform) would be a distinct advantage. Strong communication and organisational skills.
