Qualifications and Experience Required: Matric plus NQF Level 7 Qualification in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field NQF Level 9 Qualification in Enterprise Architecture, Business Administration (MBA), or Digital Transformation Recognised Enterprise Architecture certification (e.g., TOGAF, ArchiMate) Certification in IT Governance or related disciplines (COBIT, ITIL) 8-10 years experience in enterprise or solutions architecture Demonstrated ability to design and deliver complex technology solutions Proven experience in leading architecture teams or squads Strong exposure to IT governance and architectural standards. An understanding of technical concepts such as Robotic Process Automation, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Big Data, Internet of Things, and Cognitive Computing and how they can be leveraged in transforming business models Have experience with and understand how to lead, legacy integration and remediation (facades, strangler approaches, etc.) Knowledge of all components of holistic Enterprise Architecture, including the ability to estimate the financial impact of Enterprise Architecture alternatives Experience in digital transformation or modernisation initiatives. Exposure to cloud migration, data platforms, and enterprise integration. Background in managing innovation initiatives or emerging technology pilots. Role Description: Enterprise Architecture Execution: Translate strategic enterprise architecture direction into actionable roadmaps Develop reference models, patterns, and reusable components Support simplification and rationalisation of the technology landscape Delivery and Enterprise Architecture: Analysing complex IT application landscapes Analysing the status quo and optimisation of IT architectures Identifying non-trivial technology decisions Develop technology strategy, future state architecture, and roadmap for assigned area(s) and thoroughly document IT architecture using standard architecture models Understand and help rationalise the application and BI platforms to ensure that projects and assets do not duplicate functionality or diverge from strategies Assist in the evaluation of appropriate systems, tools, and technologies, and make selection recommendations Drive consistency in architectural patterns and building blocks. Help support architectural governance and enable consistent adoption of standards, principles, and models Work with Solutions Architects and Development Leads to ensure that solution architectures meet enterprise standards and are aligned with the overall strategy Approaches to managing Architectural debt, Architecture Governance and evolution in practice Design and present strategic and innovative architecture solutions that align with clients' goals, leveraging modern technologies and industry best practices Develop compelling architectural diagrams, solution blueprints, and technical proposals to showcase the value and feasibility of the recommended solutions Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Developers, Data Scientists, and Cloud Architects, to validate and refine proposed solutions The Enterprise Architect will serve as a services subject matter expert to both internal and external customers and may participate in leadership presentations to customers Demonstrated ability to design and architect complex cloud solutions across multiple industries, considering scalability, reliability, and security Solutions Architecture Leadership: Provide oversight, guidance, and review of solution designs to ensure alignment with enterprise standards Ensure solutions align with enterprise-wide architecture principles Manage dependencies between business, application, data, and infrastructure layers Support system modernisation, legacy decommissioning, and integration initiatives Innovation Management: Lead Innovation Squads to explore emerging technologies and assess business relevance Deliver proof-of-concepts and pilots that can scale across the organisation Promote a culture of innovation and experimentation Enable continuous innovation cycles across business and IT functions Governance and Compliance: Ensure adherence to enterprise standards, security requirements, and compliance frameworks Participate in architecture review boards and governance committees Monitor risks associated with architectural decisions and technology choices Business and Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with business leaders to understand priorities and technology needs Communicate complex architecture decisions in clear, business-friendly terms Act as a trusted advisor on technology-enabled opportunities Team Leadership and Capability Development: Develop, mentor, and coach Solutions Architects and Innovation Squad members Build team capability in emerging technologies and modern architecture practices Foster collaboration between architecture, delivery, and operations teams Set clearly defined performance standards/targets for direct reports, holding direct reports accountable to achieve these and providing support and guidance where needed Ensure direct reports adhere to set business policies and procedures, emphasising the importance of general discipline at work and objectively correcting and handling any deviations as they arise Support and encourage direct reports to drive their own individual development plans to further grow as professionals in their jobs Set the example to the team and deliver on the employee value proposition by leading the team and the business in line with the company Leadership Behaviours
