Your day at NTT DATA The Senior Team Lead, Software Engineering/Architecture is a developing management role that provides regular operational support to a team of developers, engineers, and/or architects. The role plans, directs, and coordinates team activities to ensure that customer and business expectations are met. This position ensures that software engineering and architecture projects are delivered on time and within the agreed budget while meeting required quality standards. The Senior Team Lead contributes to the development of standards, policies, and procedures related to the function. Key responsibilities Manages the activities of the software engineering/architecture team, setting goals to ensure timely project delivery. Provides input to the development, planning, directing, coordination and management of the processes related to software engineering/architecture initiatives and projects. Collaborates with internal and external partners to address issues and concerns, resolving them promptly. Ensures relevant procedures and processes are in place and followed throughout the software engineering/architecture lifecycle. Works with own team to drive the architectural vision by translating product requirements into work items and ensuring tasks are accomplished. Coordinates resources and streamlines processes to ensure deliverables are met within the expected timeline. Assists with the design and execution of the software engineering/architecture lifecycle and related activities. Provides input to detailed quality assurance and automated testing requirements, processes and guidelines. Recommends guidelines on technologies to enable scalable system architecture designs. Collaborates regularly with product owners and works closely with end users to translate requirements. Monitors project execution from conception to implementation, regularly reporting on status. Responds to requests for proposals with complete timelines, deliverables and budget. Documents release packages and ensures the team has access to new releases. Stays up to date with current and emerging technologies. Identifies best practices for documentation, ensuring designs meet requirements and deliver high quality. Qualifications Understanding of regulatory, risk and compliance environment and requirements. Knowledge of programming languages, complex programming applications and troubleshooting. Understanding of software development, engineering and architecture lifecycle and methodologies. Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies. Comprehensive knowledge of processes related to software, including analysis, development, architecture, design, coding, testing, problem resolution and planning. Knowledge of build and release processes, environment management and source control. Ability to build a cohesive team and manage people effectively. Ability to balance and plan short‑term and long‑term actions of the team. Strong collaboration and engagement skills with internal and external stakeholders. Academic qualifications and certifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related field. Relevant certifications required. Required experience Line manager experience in a technical lead capacity. Demonstrated experience building, managing and leading software development, engineering and/or architecture teams. Experience dealing with stakeholders, building relationships and negotiating with decision makers. Experience delivering large software projects using Agile or Waterfall. Experience in a complex business environment, translating technical concepts into business terms. Experience negotiating or managing third‑party services. Experience implementing strategies in a multi‑supplier environment, managing third‑party services. Previous experience with line management responsibilities and resource allocation.
