Our client, a specialist underwriting business within the Motor Industry , is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Underwriter to join their growing team in Roodepoort. This role is well suited to a candidate looking to build a long-term career in underwriting within a specialised automotive environment. The successful candidate will support senior underwriters with risk assessment, policy administration, and client servicing while ensuring full compliance with regulatory and internal underwriting standards. Key Responsibilities Assist with underwriting of motor-related risks in line with company guidelines Evaluate and analyse new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations Accurately capture and maintain policy data on underwriting systems Liaise with brokers, dealerships, and internal stakeholders to obtain outstanding information Ensure underwriting decisions comply with FAIS and regulatory requirements Prepare quotations, policy schedules, and supporting documentation Support claims-related underwriting queries where required Maintain high levels of accuracy, turnaround times, and service excellence Escalate complex or high-risk cases to senior underwriters Minimum Requirements RE5 qualification (mandatory) FAIS-compliant credits (mandatory) Minimum 1 year experience in underwriting or short-term insurance (motor-related experience preferred) Understanding of short-term insurance principles and underwriting processes Computer literate with strong administrative and numerical skills Qualifications Relevant insurance or financial services qualification (advantageous) Ongoing CPD compliance in line with FAIS requirements Required Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Team player with a proactive and eager-to-learn attitude Good organisational and time-management skills Customer-focused with a commitment to service excellence What’s on Offer Competitive market-related salary Exposure to a niche Motor Industry underwriting environment Supportive team culture with growth and development opportunities
