Our client is looking for Logistic Managers for each of these regions: KZN, Cape Town, East London, Polokwane and Johannesburg THE ROLE: A Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the groups logistics and supply chain operations. The role involves planning and implementingefficient strategies for the movement of goods, inventory control, and coordination of transportation and distribution. The role will focus on cost-effectivenesssolutions, timely delivery, and adherence to quality and safety standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Develop and implement comprehensive logistics strategies that align with the organization's goals, ensuring efficient product movement and distribution2. Oversee the supply chain process, from inventory management to order fulfilment3. Implement inventory control measures, including stock tracking, demand forecasting, and cycle counts to optimize stock levels4. Plan and coordinate transportation activities, including route optimization, carrier selection, and the negotiation of favourable shipping terms5. Enforce quality control standards to maintain product quality throughout the supply chain and distribution processes6. Monitor and manage logistics costs, including transportation, storage, and inventory expenses, while identifying cost-saving opportunities7. Leverage logistics software, such as Transportation Management Systems (TMS), to optimize operations and enhance visibility8. Develop contingency plans and respond to unforeseen logistical challenges or disruptions to minimize operational downtime9. Lead, mentor, and manage logistics staff, including task delegation, performance evaluations, and skills development QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (a degree is Supply Chain Management or Logistics is a plus) Proven experience in supply chain management Strong leadership and team management skills Leadership: Provide strong and effective leadership to the logistics team, setting expectations, motivating, and fostering a positive work environment. Effective communication: Communicate clearly and openly with team members, superiors, suppliers, and other departments to ensure smooth information flow andeffective problem-solving. Problem-Solving: Identify and address challenges, obstacles, and inefficiencies in distribution centre operations to maintain smooth functioning. Team Management: Supervise, mentor, and guide logistics staff, including task delegation, performance evaluations, and skills development. Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve conflicts or issues within the distribution centre team, promoting a harmonious work environment. Problem-Solving: Identify and address logistical challenges, obstacles, and inefficiencies to maintain smooth operations and meet delivery deadlines. Analytical Thinking: Analyze data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to make informed decisions, identify areas for improvement, and optimize logisticsprocesses. Cost Management: Monitor and manage logistics costs, finding ways to reduce expenses, improve efficiency, and maximize cost-effectiveness.
