Job Summary Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, a leading South African electricity public utility, is seeking a dedicated and reliable General Worker (Utilityman) to join our team. The role involves performing a variety of manual and support tasks that ensure the smooth operation of our facilities and the safety of our infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be proactive, safety-conscious, and physically capable of handling diverse responsibilities in both indoor and outdoor environments. This position is essential for maintaining operational efficiency and supporting Eskoms mission to provide sustainable and reliable electricity to the nation. Key Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and general labor tasks, including cleaning, lifting, moving, and assembling equipment as required. Assist skilled tradesmen, technicians, and other operational staff in day-to-day tasks. Ensure safe handling and storage of tools, equipment, and materials. Operate basic machinery and equipment under supervision, adhering to all safety protocols. Support infrastructure upkeep, including minor repairs, painting, and site organization. Follow all company safety and operational procedures to minimize risks. Maintain accurate records of work completed and report issues to supervisors promptly. Contribute to a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Required Skills and Qualifications Education: Minimum Grade 12 / Matric certificate. Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks. Technical Skills: Basic understanding of general tools and equipment handling. Safety Awareness: Knowledge of basic workplace health and safety protocols. Communication: Ability to follow instructions clearly and communicate effectively with team members. Reliability: Punctual, dependable, and able to work independently or in a team. Experience Previous experience in a general worker, utility, or maintenance role is an advantage but not mandatory. Familiarity with industrial or construction environments is preferred. Working Hours Full-time position, typically 40 hours per week. May require shift work, weekends, or overtime depending on operational requirements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work under supervision and take initiative when required.
