About Mventech Group Mventech Group is a dynamic and growing mining and resources consulting firm headquartered in Centurion, Gauteng. We partner with clients across project sites to deliver innovative, design-led, and technically rigorous consulting solutions. Our culture is built on expertise, integrity, and a commitment to developing the next generation of industry professionals. At Mventech, we live our tagline: Innovate · Design · Consult. The Opportunity Mventech Group is seeking an Intermediate Engineer to join its Logistics practice and take a leading role in the delivery of logistics workstreams across mining study projects. This is an opportunity for a technically capable engineer to apply advanced simulation and modelling techniques, work across multidisciplinary project teams, and contribute directly to the optimisation of material handling and ore transport systems for major mining clients. The role also carries a mentoring responsibility, making it well suited to an engineer who is ready to grow beyond individual delivery and begin shaping the quality of work produced by those around them. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate the logistics workstream on mining studies across concept, pre-feasibility, and feasibility phases, ensuring deliverables meet scope, schedule, and quality requirements. Develop, calibrate, and execute Discrete Event Simulation (DES) models using Simio and Mventech’s in-house simulation tool to evaluate system performance, fleet requirements, and production targets. Conduct time and motion studies and operational analyses to identify inefficiencies and optimise people, ore, and material handling systems. Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and client deliverables that communicate modelling results, assumptions, sensitivities, and recommendations with clarity and precision. Contribute to the development of project schedules, work breakdown structures, and CAPEX/OPEX estimates for logistics-related scopes. Collaborate with mining, process, and infrastructure engineering teams to ensure logistics designs are fully integrated with overall project objectives and constraints. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, supporting their development and the consistent improvement of logistics modelling methods and study quality. Drive innovation within logistics modelling by advancing automation, improving data accuracy, and embedding data-driven decision-making across the team’s toolset. Ensure all work complies with Mventech’s quality, safety, and environmental standards, and meets client expectations at every project phase. Minimum Requirements You must have: A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering (BSc or BEng). Three to five years’ experience in mining studies within an engineering consulting or EPCM environment. A strong working knowledge of underground and surface mining operations, particularly material handling and ore transport systems. Demonstrated experience in logistics system design, analysis, and optimisation across concept, pre-feasibility, and feasibility study phases. Practical experience with Discrete Event Simulation (DES) and logistics modelling software, such as Simio, Arena, or an equivalent platform. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, including Power BI, Excel, and Python. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. It would advantage you to have: Experience using Python for data analysis automation or scripting within an engineering study context. Exposure to integrated multidisciplinary study environments where logistics interfaces with mining, process, and infrastructure engineering. Familiarity with CAPEX and OPEX modelling conventions used in mining feasibility studies. Experience working on international mining projects or across multiple commodity types. Competencies and Attributes Simulation and modelling expertise: the ability to build, calibrate, and interpret DES models that inform sound engineering decisions on fleet sizing, system performance, and production targets. Analytical rigour: a disciplined, data-driven approach to logistics analysis, with the ability to structure complex problems, interrogate results, and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Delivery ownership: the ability to lead a workstream with accountability, manage scope and schedule proactively, and elevate constraints before they affect project outcomes. Collaborative integration: demonstrated effectiveness working across multidisciplinary teams, with the practical skill to align logistics assumptions and outputs with broader project objectives. Technical communication: the ability to produce reports and presentations of a high professional standard that accurately represent modelling methodology, assumptions, and recommendations. Mentoring and knowledge transfer: a genuine interest in developing junior colleagues and contributing to the improvement of team capability, tools, and methodologies. Why Join Mventech Group? At Mventech, logistics engineering is central to how we add value for our clients. You will work on technically demanding mining studies, apply industry-leading simulation tools, and collaborate with a team that is genuinely invested in advancing the quality and sophistication of logistics modelling in the mining sector. We offer a culture that rewards initiative, supports professional development, and provides real opportunity to grow from delivering work to shaping the direction of a practice. If you are an engineer with the technical depth and the ambition to do more than execute, Mventech is a place where that ambition will be put to use. #J-18808-Ljbffr
