Key Responsibilities: Legal & Statutory Compliance Fulfil the duties of a legally appointed GCC Engineer (Mines & Works) Ensure compliance with the MHSA and all relevant regulations Oversee engineering legal appointments, audits, and inspections Maintain and enforce engineering standards, procedures, and safety systems Engineering & Asset Management Lead and manage the engineering function across:Mobile mining fleet (excavators, trucks, dozers, loaders) Fixed plant and infrastructure (crushing, conveyors, pumps, etc.) Develop and implement maintenance strategies to:Improve equipment availability and reliability Reduce downtime and maintenance costs Oversee contractor performance and engineering service providers Operational Support & Mine Performance Work closely with mining and production teams to:Align engineering capability with production targets Support efficient stripping and coal extraction activities Monitor and optimise key operational metrics:Equipment utilisation Productivity and throughput Cost per tonne Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives Mine Planning Integration Support short- to medium-term mine planning processes Ensure engineering inputs are aligned with:Mine plans Production schedules Resource utilisation Health, Safety & Environmental Management Drive a strong safety-first culture across engineering and operations Ensure adherence to safety standards and best practices Support environmental compliance, including:Dust control measures Water and waste management systems Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement Provide leadership and mentorship to engineering teams Collaborate with:Mine Manager and site leadership Production and HSE teams Contractors and external stakeholders Build a high-performance, accountable engineering team Job Experience & Skills Required (Ideal Candidate Profile):Minimum 1015 years experience in mining operations Significant experience within:Opencast coal mining (highly advantageous) Engineering and maintenance management Proven track record in a senior engineering leadership role Experience acting as an appointed GCC Engineer GCC Mines & Works (Essential)Degree or Diploma in:Mechanical Engineering Mining Engineering Or related discipline If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply directly.
