INTERN: INTERNAL APPLICATIONS DESIGNER / APPLICATION OWNER JOB TYPE: 6 month – Contract (In – Office)LOCATION: South Africa, Somerset WestREPORT TO: Chief Information Security Officer KEY PURPOSE OF JOB The Internal Application Developer Intern is responsible for supporting the maintenance and development of software solutions. This role focuses on supporting custom applications tailored to internal business needs, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring system reliability and scalability. Working closely with stakeholders across departments, the candidate translates business requirements into functional software tools, integrates systems, and supports the lifecycle of internal applications from conception to deployment and maintenance. KEY TASKS Design, Develop, and Maintain Internal Applications Build custom software tools and applications to meet internal business requirements, ensuring usability, performance, and scalability Work closely with internal teams (e.g. operations, HR, finance, IT) to gather requirements, understand workflows, and propose technical solutions that streamline processes Develop and maintain integrations between internal applications and third‑party systems (e.g. ERP, CRM, cloud platforms, databases) Provide support for internal applications by identifying and resolving bugs, performance issues, and user‑reported problems in a timely manner Write clean, well‑documented, and testable code. Maintain documentation for system architecture, development practices, and application usage Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including planning, development, testing, deployment, and post‑release support Implement best practices for application security and data protection, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and relevant regulations Focus on improving user interfaces and application workflows to enhance the efficiency and satisfaction of internal users Identify opportunities to automate repetitive or manual tasks to improve productivity and reduce errors Provide basic troubleshooting and support Support training initiatives for new systems and tools QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Requirements: NQF Level 6 (diploma) / NQF Level 7 (bachelor’s degree) in Information Technology, Computer Science or Computer Systems Familiarity with at least one language like Python, Java, JavaScript, or C++ Skills & Competencies: High curiosity Adaptability to new technologies Problem‑solving Proactive attitude Data handling and system management Attention to detail and accuracy Basic IT troubleshooting #J-18808-Ljbffr
