Job Description Role Purpose: Responsible for driving technical excellence, fostering innovation, and delivering solutions that enhance product quality, production efficiency, and sustainability. Overview TRUCO (Transvaal Rubber Company) has been the leading South African manufacturer and supplier of mining and industrial rubber products for over a hundred years. Main products include rubber sheeting, mining and industrial hose, conveyor belting and fender systems. TRUCO runs the largest Hand Built hose factory on the continent and supplies the majority of mines and industry with best in class rubber pulp and slurry hose. TRUCO is looking for a self-motivated, “hands‑on”, highly energetic individual, service-oriented, active team player with the exception of performing independently. Specific responsibilities (not limited to) Innovation and Research: Lead the development and implementation of innovative solutions to improve manufacturing processes and products. Conduct research on emerging technologies and trends in the manufacturing sector. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prototype and test new ideas. Process Optimization: Analyze existing manufacturing processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and sustainability. Implement lean manufacturing principles and advanced process controls. Technical Support: Provide technical expertise to resolve complex manufacturing challenges. Optimize production processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance quality. Develop and implement standard operating procedures and best practices. Product Development: Work closely with engineering, operations, and quality assurance teams to address technical challenges. Analyse customer feedback and market trends to guide product innovations. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations in all product developments. Project Management: Manage technical innovation projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget. Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders for successful project execution. Prepare detailed reports on project progress, outcomes, and recommendations. Training and Knowledge Sharing: Train staff on new technologies and methods to enhance their technical skills. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the organization. Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology or a related field. Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a technical or innovation-focused role. Demonstrated ability to lead innovation projects and implement new technologies. Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, automation, and emerging technologies. Proficiency in AutoCad, CAM, or other relevant technical software. Work environment: Chamdor, Krugersdorp operations. Interaction with all levels of personnel.
