The City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, through its Public Safety Department (JMPD), invites committed, disciplined, and physically fit South African youth to apply for the Metropolitan Police Officer Trainee Programme 2026 / 2027. This intensive 18-month training programme aims to equip successful candidates with the necessary skills and knowledge to serve and protect the community as Metropolitan Police Officers. Key Responsibilities Enforcing municipal bylaws and traffic regulations Conducting visible policing in assigned areas Assisting in crime prevention initiatives Promoting public safety and order Engaging with communities to foster trust and cooperation Minimum Requirements Be a South African citizen Possess a Senior Certificate (Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent) Reside within the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan area (proof of residence required) No criminal record (biometric screening will be conducted) Possess a valid Driver’s License (Code B or higher) — no learner's licenses accepted Be between 18 and 35 years old Be physically and mentally fit (submit a comprehensive medical certificate) Pass a pre-training fitness assessment No civil judgments related to fraud and/or corruption Be willing to undergo background vetting Be proficient in English Be willing to carry a firearm and wear a uniform Personal Attributes Honest, reliable, and committed to justice Emotionally resilient and patient Able to work under pressure and in all weather conditions Willing to work irregular shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays Have a strong sense of integrity and public service ethics #J-18808-Ljbffr
