Role Overview The role is responsible for supply chain liquid development and packaging (innovation and renovation) within the supply chain/production function in Diageo South Africa. It links marketing innovation and supply/production functions and leads the piloting of new products. You will collaborate and partner with supply sources, third‑party co‑packers and material suppliers to drive the innovation agenda. Accountabilities Delivery of “true to concept” packaging and liquid solutions to agreed cost, quality and time commitments. Develop packs and liquids for innovation and brand change, translating prototype concepts into fully commercialised packages, working closely with suppliers. Apply project planning, budgeting, tracking, reporting and stakeholder communication processes to demonstrate rigorous project management. Use packaging development skills to design “Design for Quality” packaging that performs well at all stages in the supply chain. Ensure new products comply with the Liquor Products Act and other legislative and internal regulations and standards. Keep up to date with new innovations and technology, proactively bringing opportunities to the business. Deliver all work to agreed standards on time and within budget while complying with health and safety requirements and good manufacturing practice. Apply risk management practices and techniques. Develop a sound understanding of GBTC, Brand Change processes, Ways of Working, Navigate and Accelerate 360 processes. Minimum Requirements Degree‑level qualification or equivalent. 5 years of technical innovation experience in the FMCG industry. Strong project management skills with knowledge of a wide range of raw materials, packaging materials and processes, including artwork specification and management, reprographics, design and development of packaging, materials and liquids. Experience translating liquid and packaging concepts into fully commercialised products through development of product handling processes and management of technical trials at pilot and production scale. Excellent organisational, report preparation and presentation skills. Essential Attributes for Success Ability to operate independently on own initiative and to engage and influence senior managers. Ability to fully engage with the customer base to define and deliver projects successfully. Project management experience and the ability to work in cross‑functional teams and influence at scale.
