Job Purpose The Auto Electrician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems on trucks, commercial vehicles, and fleet vehicles. The role involves troubleshooting electrical faults, installing electrical components, and ensuring all electrical systems operate efficiently and safely. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair electrical faults on trucks and commercial vehicles. Repair and maintain wiring systems, starters, alternators, batteries, and lighting systems. Perform electrical diagnostics using specialized diagnostic equipment. Install and repair vehicle electrical components such as sensors, control modules, and wiring harnesses. Repair electrical systems on gearbox-related components where applicable. Attend to vehicle breakdowns and provide fault-finding support when required. Perform preventative maintenance on vehicle electrical systems. Ensure all repairs comply with safety and quality standards. Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used. Work closely with technicians, service advisors, and workshop management to ensure efficient workflow. Follow company health and safety procedures in the workshop. Minimum Requirements Qualified Auto Electrician (Trade Test / Red Seal preferred). Minimum 3–5 years’ experience working on trucks or commercial vehicles. Strong experience in electrical diagnostics and fault finding. Experience with diagnostic equipment and software. Valid driver’s license (Code 10 or Code 14 advantageous). Key Skills and Competencies Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability. Knowledge of truck electrical systems and components. Ability to work under pressure and meet workshop deadlines. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
