Description Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform. AWS offers over 100 fully‑featured services to millions of active customers ranging from fast‑growing startups to large enterprises and government agencies. AWS customers continue to leverage our services for everything from exploratory experimentation to mission‑critical business systems. Kumo is the software engineering organization that scales AWS’s support capabilities. Amazon’s mission is to be earth’s most customer‑centric company, and this applies to helping our own Amazon employees with their daily IT support needs. Our team innovates for the Amazonian, making the interaction with IT Support as smooth as possible. We eliminate root causes, automate issue resolution, or guide customers toward optimal troubleshooting steps. We use machine learning to understand customer behavior, predict intent, deliver personalized content, and automate issue resolution through chatbots. Amazon Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) drives revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small‑ and mid‑market accounts to enterprise‑level customers, including the public sector. We celebrate diversity in our workforce and in the ways we work. As part of our inclusive culture, we offer accommodations during the interview and onboarding process. If you need accommodation, contact your recruiter or the Applicant‑Candidate Accommodation Team (ACAT) at Key Job Responsibilities Our engineers contribute to the complete vertical stack of an SOA‑based system, connected horizontally to most systems in the larger Amazon ecosystem. We use a variety of open‑source technologies, native AWS services, and internal AWS services. Primary languages include Kotlin, Java, JavaScript, and Ruby on Rails. Front‑end tech includes Angular/Bootstrap, Node, and Elastic Search. AWS services such as Route 53, Lambda, Fargate, API Gateway, AppSync, KMS, AWS Connect, Lex, Kendra, Redshift, QuickSight, and DynamoDB are integral to our stack. Recognize and adopt best practices in software development engineering: design, testing, version control, documentation, build, deployment, and operations. Write high‑quality, maintainable, and robust code. Have a working knowledge of UI technologies, frameworks, and concepts including HTML 5, REST, jQuery, AJAX, CSS3, SOA, and responsive design. Define APIs and integrate them into usable interfaces. Understand how web applications work, perform, and scale, and troubleshoot and analyze problems. Problem Solving Solve problems at their root by understanding the broader context. Develop pragmatic, scalable solutions without over‑engineering; choose simple, straightforward solutions over more complex ones. When existing solutions are available, use them. Know fundamental data structures and algorithms and when to employ them. Anticipate and prevent future problems.
