Your qualifications: Grade 12 (Essential) Relevant tertiary qualification; a medical diploma/degree is beneficial Your Outputs (include but are not limited to): Receive underwriting requirements from clinical Synthesize the requirements received and use internal and external guides to make the final decision regarding the cover Underwriting of new business policies, group risk policies, and servicing cases Communicate with Financial advisors and distribution specialists regarding decision-making for underwriting Handle queries regarding premiums Assess risk on life cover, serious illness cover, and disability cover Adhering to Risk Management (underwriting) rules, rating, and insurance laws and regulations Make decisions regarding the acceptance, price, and policy terms and conditions that are consistent with business Risk Management and ensure a profitable loss ratio Manage and resolve queries received from various stakeholders, including doing the necessary follow-up work Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers Communicates openly and within a timeframe Your experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a life insurance medical underwriter Experience in Individual life insurance products, i.e., Life cover, Permanent Disability cover, Temporary Income Cover, and Critical Illness Sound Business and Operational knowledge of Insurance Industry administrative processes Good knowledge of the business administration platforms Familiar with Compliance Processes and Procedures in the Insurance Industry Experience in underwriting temporary (income protector) and permanent disability, critical illness, as well as signing authority (Essential) Decline excessive risks or impose additional conditions or increase premiums for high-risk Your skills and character traits: MS Office and PC literate Accurate Typing Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Quality driven Ability to pay attention to detail, as accuracy is important Using effective interpersonal skills to resolve conflict situations Ability to work effectively with others and contribute to team task accomplishment Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities Have the ability to operate effectively under pressure Task and deadline oriented Analytical mind and above-average problem-solving techniques Strong sense of ownership Pro-active and innovative Relationship Management
