The Department of Criminal Justice and Procedure is integral to the delivery of the LLB programme, particularly in core areas such as criminal justice, procedural law, and the law of evidence. The Department also contributes to postgraduate teaching, supervision, and research, with a focus on strengthening doctrinal, procedural, and practice‑oriented legal scholarship. The Department invites applications for a permanent position at Lecturer level. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research, and curriculum development, with particular emphasis on Civil Procedure, alongside related areas within Criminal Justice and Procedure. Key Responsibilities Teaching at undergraduate and, where appropriate, postgraduate levels. Development and delivery of core LLB modules, with a primary focus on Civil Procedure. Contributing to teaching in related areas such as Criminal Procedure, Law of Evidence, and Constitutional Rights and Criminal Justice. Curriculum development and assessment design. Supervision of undergraduate and post‑graduate research. Developing a research profile and publishing in accredited journals. Participation in departmental, faculty, and university governance. Engagement in community‑based and socially responsive legal initiatives. Holding a PhD (or active enrolment in a doctoral programme). Demonstrated teaching or tutoring experience. Evidence of an accredited publication. Qualifications & Requirements A doctoral degree or demonstrable progress towards completion of a doctoral degree, preferably in Civil Procedure, procedural law, criminal law, or closely related fields. Teaching experience in Civil Procedure, and/or related procedural law modules within an LLB curriculum. Practical legal experience in litigation, including civil and/or criminal court processes. Experience in supervising undergraduate research and/or co‑supervising postgraduate research. Evidence of participation in curriculum development, academic administration, or institutional governance. A strong publication record or participation in scholarly activities such as conferences and research workshops in the above fields. Demonstrated ability to integrate teaching, research, and community engagement. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong teaching, facilitation, and assessment skills. Ability to operate effectively in a diverse academic environment. Student‑centred teaching approach. Research and academic writing competence. Planning, organisational, and administrative skills.
