An exciting career opportunity exists at Medipost Pharmacy WC CDU for a Production Manager reporting to the Lead Executive: Public Sector & NHI. This position is based in Parow, Western Cape. Primary purpose of the job To ensure the CDU Production Department operates effectively and efficiently within Service Level Agreements to guarantee smooth, compliant production. Plan and organise production schedules for all departments/workstreams to meet deadlines while optimising available resources. Operations Identify and manage production risks or bottlenecks and put remedial measures. Analyse constraints within the department’s productivity and define possible system/operational and process changes. Ensure the correct management of consumable quantities and budget within the Production Area. Communicate regularly with the senior management team regarding problems or issues impacting production. Ensure all production‑related external service providers stay within agreed SLAs. Establish a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of operations. Set productivity goals and incentive structures for each production department. Develop workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality. Daily monitor the Quality Control processes to ensure minimal production errors and service failures. Liaise with GBI, PBSA, UTrackIT and Apex to ensure optimum functionality of dispensing systems and equipment. Ensure the evaluation of machine resources by relevant parties to ensure continued production and minimal downtime. Schedule downtime for ADU and other dispensing systems for maintenance. Compile and manage new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required. Perform any ad‑hoc projects and manage projects that may be necessary for the CDU Production Department and the Group at large. Identify areas for improvement in production processes and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Customer Service Good collaboration with colleagues, management and client (DoH). Maintain good relationships toward external contractors and service providers. Open communication with other relevant managers to address expectations, requirements, and compliance for optimal production output. Collaborate with inventory to ensure the required stock is available at the right time and area. Monitor and track maintenance and performance of all equipment. Drive continuous improvement initiatives with internal and external stakeholders. Housekeeping Maintenance & adherence to and manage good housekeeping practices. Team Management Lead and manage production teams, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety and quality standards. Manage line managers within production to ensure departmental output as achieved within company SLA and Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) rules. Motivate, support and provide guidance to production staff. Ensure adequate scheduling of staff. Manage staff and locum expenses within budget. Conduct probation and performance management evaluations within agreed timelines. Conduct IR interventions timeously and accurately. Support the Company Transformation Plan Strategy. Identify High Performing Individuals (HPIs) and create Personal Development Plans (PDP). Coaching and mentoring of HPIs. Monitor and manage staff productivity. Manage time & attendance according to company policies. Recruit, select and retain staff. Reporting Investigate and provide accurate reporting of errors. Provide statistical reporting weekly, monthly and on an ad‑hoc basis. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, (Industrial) Project Management or a related field. Experience 5 years managerial experience. 3 years’ experience in automated technology. 3 years of warehouse management system experience. Ideally within a courier pharmacy production environment and experience working with automated dispensing units.
