Minimum Requirements Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field. Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience within underground mining construction environments. Proven experience managing large‑scale mining construction projects. Strong understanding of underground mining methods, infrastructure development, and construction processes. Experience working with project scheduling and planning software such as MS Project or Primavera. Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and stakeholder management abilities. Sound knowledge of mining legislation, safety regulations, and environmental compliance standards. Duties and Responsibilities Construction Coordination & Planning Prepare and implement construction execution strategies and work schedules. Collaborate with operational, engineering, and procurement departments to ensure project objectives are achieved. Monitor construction progress to ensure alignment with operational requirements and production targets. Operational Site Oversight Manage daily underground construction activities and ensure smooth site operations. Supervise contractors, suppliers, and workforce teams to maintain productivity and efficiency. Ensure all work is carried out according to company procedures and quality standards. Cost & Financial Management Track project expenditure and ensure adherence to approved budgets. Review and authorise project‑related costs and contractor claims. Identify opportunities to optimise costs while maintaining project quality and timelines. Resource & Logistics Management Coordinate the availability and utilisation of manpower, equipment, and materials. Oversee supply chain and logistics activities to prevent delays to construction schedules. Ensure effective allocation of resources across project phases. Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance Drive compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations on‑site. Conduct routine inspections, risk assessments, and safety meetings. Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all construction teams. Quality Management Ensure construction activities comply with engineering specifications and approved standards. Facilitate inspections, testing, and verification of completed work. Investigate and resolve quality‑related issues and implement corrective measures where required. Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement Provide regular project progress updates to senior management and clients. Maintain effective communication with all relevant stakeholders throughout the project life cycle. Address operational challenges and ensure timely resolution of project concerns. Compliance & Documentation Ensure all construction activities comply with local mining regulations and statutory requirements. Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and audit records. Assist with obtaining relevant permits, approvals, and compliance certifications where necessary.
