Overall Responsibility Is responsible for ensuring a brewery's products are packed correctly and made ready for distribution. They manage a team of staff involved in various packaging and warehousing processes, including bottling, canning, boxing, kegging and palletising. Run a shift when required; attend to afterhours requirements on the line. Focus Area 1: Maintain safe healthy and risk‑free working environment Comply with Safety, health & environmental legislation & procedures Maintain safe work environment Comply with SHP safe work practices as per SHE handbook in Manufacturing excellence strategy Report all safety observations Comply with and HACCP or ISO 22000 requirements Apply basic hygiene and sanitation and adhere to food safety related rules and activities as per factory instructions Perform Food Safety and Quality related activities as part of the FSMS and QC functions Comply with OSHA and other safety regulations Focus Area 2: Manufacturing Excellence Translate and implement Manufacturing excellence strategy Fully understand the Manufacturing excellence strategy Coach staff and call upon Pillar champions and experts to drive each Pillar of ME Adhere to structured shift handover requirements to ensure operational continuity and information accuracy Focus Area 3: Effective Productivity Apply Fundamental/Situational Knowledge of Packaging Equipment and Processes Manage Shift Performance Optimize production team performance and processes Perform packaging related administrative tasks Assist in the manage of usages and waste on shift Optimise utility usage Develop and couch flexible multiskilled staff on shifts Develop and train standard operating procedures Maintain hygiene standards across the pack hall Assess process capability across all areas of operators Assist in Autonomous Maintenance and Breakdown on the line Resource planning to mitigate risk on shifts Support process artisans to implement of autonomous maintenance of the shifts Coordinate all activities related to breakdowns Facilitate problem solving Ownership of cost elements relating to production processes: Liquid Loss, packaging material losses; CO2 usage, Consumables: Investigate variances versus budget Implement corrective actions to reduce overconsumption Focus Area 4: Leadership, People Management Support and entrench the company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development, and to ensure high performance Inspire and motivate the broader SHP team (not just your direct reports) to deliver on goals and maximize individual and the overall company performance Perform routine administration of all employees Provide oversight and direction to your team Ensure open communication with Shift and performance management Recruit, develop and performance management your direct report Authority to Stop production for safety/quality risks Escalate major breakdowns Reallocate labour on shift Responsible for shift output delivery versus plan Requirements Of The Role Minimum Grade 12/matric certificate 2 years' experience as a Process Operator or Process Artisan on high-speed packaging line Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment Ability to perform the inherent physical requirements of the role, including standing for extended periods, lifting, and manual handling, where applicable Skills And Competencies Deep understanding of maintenance practices Analytical Problem Solver Strong Record Keeping Skills Strong Leadership skills Self-managing & Goal driven NB: Specific duties/responsibilities will vary from time to time: the above list is intended to indicate the general nature of the post and is not exhaustive.
