Job Description We are looking for a highly practical, hands-on Manufacturing Automation & Tooling Technician to design, build, and continuously improve our factory production systems. This role is ideal for a maker-type engineer — someone who is as comfortable on the workshop floor as they are in CAD or writing code. You will be responsible for taking ideas from concept through to fully functioning production tools, including assembly lines, jigs, fixtures, and semi-automated systems . You will play a key role in improving manufacturing efficiency, consistency, and scalability , helping us transition from manual processes to robust, repeatable, and partially automated production systems. Key Responsibilities Automation & Production System Development Design, build, and iterate assembly lines and production workstations . Develop semi-automated and automated production systems to improve throughput and reduce human error. Identify opportunities to automate repetitive or error-prone processes within the factory. Integrate and configure robotic arms (cobots) where appropriate. Tooling, Jigs & Fixtures Design and build custom jigs, fixtures, and test rigs to support assembly, calibration, and quality assurance. Improve existing tooling to enhance ease of use, speed, and reliability. Ensure all tooling supports repeatability and scalability in production. Hands-On Fabrication & Prototyping Perform in-house fabrication and prototyping, including: Welding (MIG/TIG/basic fabrication) Grinding, cutting, drilling, and mechanical assembly CNC machining or managing CAM workflows 3D printing and rapid prototyping Build and modify physical systems directly — not just design them. Machine Vision & QA Automation Implement machine vision systems for inspection, validation, and quality control. Develop automated or semi-automated QA processes integrated into production lines. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with hardware, firmware, and manufacturing teams to ensure products are designed for efficient assembly. Support DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFT (Design for Test) initiatives. Assist production teams with troubleshooting and continuous improvement. Analyse production bottlenecks and inefficiencies and propose practical solutions. Drive improvements in cycle time, yield, and process reliability . Maintain and improve existing automation systems and tooling. Requirements Profile / Ideal Candidate A hands-on, practical engineer or technical builder who enjoys working with both tools and technology. Comfortable moving between CAD, electronics, firmware/code, and physical fabrication . Able to take a concept from idea → prototype → production-ready system with minimal oversight. Strong problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, iterative environment. Naturally curious, resourceful, and proactive. Core Skills & Experience Experience in industrial automation, manufacturing systems, or robotics . Strong mechanical and fabrication skills (welding, grinding, assembly). Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar). Familiarity with CNC, 3D printing, and rapid prototyping workflows . Experience integrating sensors, actuators, and control systems . Exposure to robotics (cobots), PLCs, or microcontroller-based control systems is advantageous. Experience with machine vision systems is a plus. Are you ready to embark on a journey that’s both professionally fulfilling and personally rewarding? If you’re excited about technology, driven by results, and thrive in a collaborative environment, Olarm is the place for you. Join us in shaping the future of smart security solutions! #J-18808-Ljbffr
