An opportunity has become available for an experienced Logistics & Stores Supervisor to join a well-established manufacturing operation based in Ladysmith. This role is ideally suited to a practical, detail-driven individual with strong experience in transport coordination, stock control, stores administration, and team supervision. The successful candidate will divide time approximately 50% between administration and systems control, and 50% supervising daily logistics and warehouse activities. The position plays a critical role in ensuring that outbound deliveries, transport bookings, stock accuracy, and documentation are executed professionally and in full compliance with company procedures and legal requirements. Duties & Responsibilities Coordinate and book approved external trucking and transport service providers. Schedule loads according to production and customer delivery requirements. Verify load weights and ensure vehicles are not overloaded. Check all transport documentation, licences, permits, and compliance paperwork. Ensure delivery notes and dispatch documentation are accurately captured and processed. Liaise with the accounts department regarding orders, invoicing, and supporting documentation. Monitor transport pricing and assist with freight cost comparisons and controls. Track deliveries and follow up on outstanding or delayed shipments. Stores & Stock Control Manage daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts. Prepare count sheets and reconcile variances. Maintain accurate stores records, filing systems, and stock reports. Ensure proper stock issuing, receiving, and document control. Assist with stock tracing, investigation, and reporting. Administration & Reporting Capture and maintain accurate information on spreadsheets and company systems. Prepare operational reports for management. Maintain filing and document control to audit‑ready standards. Use Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook extensively. Work on ERP systems such as SYSPRO (highly advantageous). Team Supervision Supervise approximately three general workers / logistics assistants. Allocate daily tasks and monitor productivity. Ensure safe and efficient loading, housekeeping, and stores discipline. Support staff training and adherence to procedures. Internal Coordination Liaise with head office, suppliers, transporters, and internal departments. Support production, procurement, finance, and dispatch functions. Desired Experience & Qualification Grade 12 / Matric (essential). Relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Stores, or Warehouse Management (advantageous). Min 3–5 years’ exp. in logistics, stores, warehouse, or transport coordination within a manufacturing environment. Proven experience coordinating external transport providers and dispatch activities. Strong stock control and inventory management experience. Good understanding of transport compliance documentation. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and spreadsheet reporting. ERP system experience, particularly SYSPRO, highly advantageous. Good numerical and reconciliation skills. Strong administrative and organisational abilities. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Leadership experience supervising small teams. Valid driver’s licence advantageous. Willingness to work after hours when operationally required.
