SPEC-Africa requires a highly experienced Buyer to oversee all procurement and purchasing functions, ensuring the timely sourcing of quality materials, goods, and services in line with company requirements, budgets, and supplier agreements. The successful candidate will manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts and pricing, monitor inventory and procurement processes, ensure compliance with company policies, and drive cost‑effective purchasing strategies while maintaining high performance and operational efficiency. Responsibilities Find best product for the best price, from reliable vendors. Assure that the acquisition of all goods or services meets the requirements of the contract as well as special specifications. Procure materials from suppliers (after approvals) and track from payment to delivery and closing off on system. Track and maintain proper levels of stocked inventory. Assist the estimating and tender department in project bidding. Initiate and implement process improvement initiatives for department. Follow through on projects from start to end and liaise with relevant operations manager. Attributes The ability to motivate and lead a team. Good spoken and written communication skills. Good problem‑solving and numeracy skills. The ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Good geographical knowledge. Qualifications & Experience A Diploma/Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain. A minimum of at least 3–5 years’ experience as a Buyer. Proficient in Pastel, MS Office (Word, Excel). Knowledge of the following Standard Procedures of the ISO management system: SP 03, 04, 05, 06, 09, 10, 11, 13, 14, 18, 19. Experience working on BuildSmart System will be advantageous. Measurable Output Update Supply Chain Manager with feedback. Weekly progress reports. Written reports to management. Document registers.
