Engineer - Structures, Data Center Location: Cape Town, South Africa This position will support a team locally based in South Africa and Global Teams. Responsibilities Under the supervision of a Senior Engineer, perform detailed structural designs and calculations for structural systems in commercial and industrial fields for both reinforced concrete and structural steel type structures. When required assist with Revit modelling. Take responsibility for structural design and drawings. Be part of a project team, liaise with other professional team members and contractors. Attend planning, design and site meetings, and ad-hoc site inspections. Manage less complicated projects. Work to ensure the implementation of safety and integrity principles in structural documentation. Promote compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all design activities. Assist with the compilation of bids and proposals. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and understand the importance of delivery and client satisfaction. Strong analytical, literacy and numerical skills. Good commercial awareness / risk management skills. Good planning and organizational skills. Qualifications B.Eng. Degree. M.Eng. Degree preferable. Minimum 4 years’ experience in design of concrete and steel structures. Solid knowledge and understanding of structural analysis software like Tekla Structural Designer / Etabs / Robot / Prokon. Revit Structures knowledge will be advantageous. Must have experience in the design of reinforced concrete and structural steel buildings. Finite element design of concrete structures, specifically flat slab design. Some experience in leading small design projects, including resource planning and design time frame estimates. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and understand the importance of delivery and client satisfaction. Strong analytical, literacy and numerical skills. Good commercial awareness / risk management skills. Good planning and organizational skills.
