Linux Platform Engineer job vacancy in Cape Town. An opportunity exists for an experienced Linux Platform Engineer to join a high-performing managed services team, providing advanced 3rd line support for a large enterprise environment. This role is suited to a technically strong engineer who thrives in complex infrastructure environments and is confident in troubleshooting, supporting, and maintaining Linux-based platforms within a service-focused, ITIL-aligned framework. Key Responsibilities Provide 3rd line support and advanced troubleshooting for complex Linux infrastructure incidents Maintain, manage, and enhance Linux server environments (Ubuntu and Red Hat) Support system stability, performance, availability, and security across enterprise platforms Manage patching, upgrades, releases, and change activities Act as an escalation point for critical technical issues, driving resolution end-to-end Collaborate with internal teams, service integrators, and third-party providers Maintain accurate configuration data and high-quality technical documentation Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks and service issues Support ITIL-based service management processes and best practices Contribute to automation, scripting, and continuous improvement initiatives Position Requirements Skills & Experience: 5+ years’ experience in a 3rd line Linux engineering role Strong expertise in Ubuntu and Red Hat environments Solid scripting ability in Bash and PowerShell Experience with Azure infrastructure and services Familiarity with monitoring and configuration tools (e.g. N-able or similar) Strong understanding of networking principles and troubleshooting Excellent problem-solving skills with end-to-end incident ownership Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technical issues clearly Qualifications (Preferred) Degree in Computer Science or related field Linux certifications (e.g. RHCSA, LPIC) advantageous Microsoft Azure certification (e.g. AZ-900) advantageous #J-18808-Ljbffr
