About the Organisation and the Role United Herzlia Schools is a highly successful, independent school that serves the Jewish community of Cape Town. Herzlia is aligned to Orthodox Judaism and recognizes the centrality of Israel as the natural home of the Jewish People. Position Details Full‑time, Permanent. Location: Highlands Estate, Cape Town. Reporting to: Head of JET (Jewish Experiential Team). Contract: One‑year contract. Hours: 45‑hour week (flexible and available for school events and camps). Salary: Negotiable; commensurate with skill and experience. Closing date for applications: 21 November 2025. Main Duties & Responsibilities High School JLL Events Assisting with planning & organising the Grade‑specific JLL camps/special days, including but not limited to developing, updating and delivering tochniot as requested, assisting with general administration and running of camps and events as requested. Co‑develop and deliver an inspiring and exciting programme for the informal JLL lessons, in collaboration with the Head of JET, Head of JLL and Head of High School JLL. Deliver the Tefillah programme as developed for the high school. Work with your team and relevant student leaders to celebrate festivals/holidays by planning fun activities. Participate in break‑time engagement with pupils, such as Parsha schmooze, during 2nd break on Friday. Provide support to JLL, Hebrew and Israel education teams as required to deliver experiential learning in all areas of Jewish life. Whole School JLL Events Co‑develop an age‑appropriate and varied programme for Tefillah at the schools, in collaboration with the Head of JLL, Head of JET, school principals and JLL HODs. Assisting with the development and delivery of campaigns related to Jewish themes/holidays. Provide support for and participate in general school camps, including appropriate Jewish input and programming for (e.g. Gr 6 camp, Gr 10 Orange River trip etc). Assisting with the running of JLL approved events related to external organisations (e.g. Shabbos Project). Required Skills & Experience Work experience and industry exposure. Undergraduate degree, preferably related to Jewish education, or have experience in Jewish education. Orthodox role model and a mensch who is passionate about Judaism. A deep understanding and knowledge of Judaism. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to inspire and build relationships with pupils. The ability and maturity to mentor kids and teens. A professional and committed team player who is willing to assist the team as required. Excellent administration and organisational skills. Confident team collaborator who is self‑driven and highly organized. An accountable, responsible and reliable individual who takes pride in their work.
