Our client, a prominent retail chain group headquartered in the Western Cape is recruiting for a Cash BookClerk to join their team in Blackheath, Cape Town . This is a new role where you will be responsible for the accurate processing, reconciliation and administration of all cash book transactions, ensuring the integrity of financial records and compliance with company policies and procedures. Duties & Responsibilities Capture and process all bank transactions accurately and timeously. Perform daily, weekly and monthly bank reconciliations. Reconcile cash, card and electronic payment transactions received from stores. Investigate and resolve reconciling items, shortages, overages and bank discrepancies. Process and reconcile intercompany transactions. Monitor and reconcile petty cash accounts. Allocate deposits, receipts and payments to the correct accounts. Ensure all cash-ups, banking records and supporting documentation are complete and accurate. Assist with month-end and year-end financial procedures. Prepare and maintain cash flow and banking reports as required. Liaise with stores, banks and internal departments regarding banking and reconciliation queries. Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies and financial procedures. Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation when required. Maintain an organised filing system for all banking and cash book records. Assist the Finance Department with ad hoc administrative and accounting duties as required. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 (Matric). A financial qualification or studies towards a financial qualification will be advantageous. Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Cash Book, Bookkeeping or Accounting role. Retail experience, particularly within a Retail environment, will be a significant advantage. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Experience working on accounting and ERP systems. Strong reconciliation and numerical skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organisational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified deadlines. Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume retail environment. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Honest, reliable and able to maintain confidentiality. Salary Market related and based on experience Working Hours Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 17:00 pm and every alternate Saturday from 08:00 am to 13:00 pm.
