Role Summary Engineering Manager for the South Africa MCA (Merchant Cash Advance) team at GoTymeX. Responsible for people leadership, delivery, and engineering quality across teams, building lending and embedded finance platforms. This is a hands‑on leadership role (not IC) working closely with Product and MCA leadership. Key Responsibilities Lead and coach engineering teams to deliver high‑quality, reliable software Own delivery execution, sprint planning, and engineering standards Partner closely with Product, Architecture, and business stakeholders in South Africa Drive the technical roadmap aligned with MCA and TymeX strategy Oversee system design decisions and manage trade‑offs between speed and quality Ensure code quality, testing, CI/CD, and engineering best practices Manage technical debt and platform scalability Support incident management and production stability Build a strong, self‑sufficient engineering culture People & Management Hire, develop, and retain high‑performing engineers (team size up to :20) Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and career development Manage team capacity and resource planning Establish on‑call and incident response practices MCA Domain Responsibilities Deliver systems for partner onboarding, loan origination, collections, and portfolio management Support business goals including growth, portfolio quality, and partner experience Ensure compliance, security, and scalability of financial systems Key Metrics Delivery performance and roadmap execution System reliability and quality Team health and retention Stakeholder satisfaction Contribution to MCA business outcomes Requirements Experience Required 10+ years software experience, 4+ years in engineering leadership Strong experience in Agile, SDLC, and modern engineering practices Proven leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management skills Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred) Hands‑on ability to support debugging and technical decision‑making Experience in fintech or regulated environments is a plus Tech Stack (Representative) Backend: Python, Node.js / TypeScript APIs & Microservices Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB Cloud: AWS (Lambda, ECS, API Gateway) Event‑driven systems (Kafka or similar) Benefits Leadership role with high impact on a growing fintech product Competitive compensation and flexible working Career growth within GoTymeX engineering Opportunity to shape embedded finance and lending platforms At GoTymeX, opportunities are here for the taking.
