About Us We build software for the people who run local government — municipal clerks. These front‑desk heroes maintain public records, compliance, transparency, and serve citizens every day. We call what we build Clerkware: a suite of tools that helps clerks do their jobs faster, more accurately, with less friction. Department: Development Location: Remote Employment Type: Full‑time The Role Product Manager (Customer‑Obsessed, Ground‑Floor). You’ll spend most of your time talking to local government clerks, understanding their workflows, frustrations, and problems they can’t always articulate. Key Responsibilities Customer Discovery: Conduct regular conversations with municipal & county clerks and government administrators to understand day‑to‑day workflows, pain points, and current tools. Observe sales calls to identify recurring objections, unmet needs, and common language used to describe problems. Work with support and client‑success teams to surface emerging issues from existing customers whose needs have evolved. Product Strategy: Build and maintain a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, identify unmet needs, and help prioritize what to build, improve, or retire. Evaluate incremental improvements to existing products and opportunities to bring entirely new tools to market. Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with marketing to develop messaging grounded in the words customers use; train sales and client‑service teams; work closely with engineering to translate insights into clear, prioritized requirements. What We’re Looking For Experience leading product decisions based on customer discovery. Ability to kill a feature or entire product after learning it is unnecessary. Insight into why customers say "yes" but still do not buy. Exceptional customer empathy and willingness to extract actionable insights. Clear communication of messy customer problems to engineers. Capability to turn vague complaints into concrete product decisions. Comfort with ambiguity and early‑stage environments. Familiarity with frameworks such as The Mom Test, Jobs to Be Done, or Business Model Canvas. Self‑starter mentality; proactive execution. Bonus: experience in GovTech, municipal government, or compliance‑heavy industries. You Might Be a Fit If … 5+ years of experience in a B2B SaaS product role, preferably in complex or regulated markets. More energized by customer calls than by product roadmap templates. Natural curiosity and follow‑up questioning. Comfort with ambiguity and building structure where playbook doesn’t exist. Understand that the job is improving workflows, not just shipping features. Strong written communication skills and ability to translate insight into crisp documentation. Bonus If You Have Experience working with or selling into government, municipalities, or regulated industries. Familiarity with Business Model Canvas or similar frameworks. Experience supporting sales enablement or marketing copywriting. Why This Role Early PM at a company with real products used by real government agencies. Direct access to leadership and influence product roadmap from day one. Help define a new category ("Clerkware"). Remote‑first, flexible culture.
