The Retreat at Beaufort – Executive Director The Executive Director reports directly to the Director of Operations and/or COO. This role encompasses hands‑on operations execution at the community level, overseeing profit and loss, financial performance, leadership of employees, and resident and family satisfaction. The Executive Director also manages the community per Phoenix policies, procedures, and guidelines, maintains full knowledge of all state and federal regulations, and owns the sales and marketing process to maximize revenue and market position. Relationship The Executive Director reports directly to the Director of Operations and/or COO. Purpose The Executive Director is responsible for operational leadership, financial stewardship, and compliance, ensuring the community operates efficiently, safely, and profitably while meeting regulatory requirements. Principal Duties And Responsibilities Compliance / Safety Adheres to and enforces OSHA regulations and safety procedures. Practices safety procedures at all times, including the use of PPE, fire extinguishers, MSDA/SDA, and Lockout‑Tag Out procedures. Reviews all incident reports and ensures corrective actions are implemented timely. Maintains full compliance with all laws and regulations governing assisted‑living facilities. Secures the community’s license and posts it in accordance with regulations. Maintains compliance with fire drills and disaster plans. Investigates, monitors, and reviews work‑related injuries. Financial Management Reviews and interprets monthly financial reports and explains budget variances to management. Shares monthly financial results with department heads and counsels individual managers on budget variances. Submits proposed annual budget to management and partnership. Educates department heads to consistently meet budgetary guidelines. Ensures all department heads consistently meet budget guidelines. Maximizes opportunities for revenue and ancillary revenue generation. Oversees payroll administration and accounts payable processing. Researches and implements strategies to maximize revenue. Ensures accounts receivable are collected on a timely basis. Initiates actions to maintain operations within established budget. Organization / Prioritization Demonstrates effective time management and organization skills, with the ability to multitask. Communicates priorities effectively. Sales / Marketing Generates leads and closes sales proficiently. Plays a key role in rent‑up and occupancy strategy implementation and evaluation. Represents the community in public settings, including presentations to large groups and meetings with community, professional, and government leaders. Positions the community as a “good neighbor” by opening the facility for use by outside groups and organizations. Assists the Community Engagement Director with outreach to medical, legal, financial, and business communities that influence the senior market. Maintains an effective external business development strategy with clear accountabilities and adjusts plans based on results. Works with community leaders to achieve quality visits and referrals that result in move‑ins. Requirements Education / Experience / Licensure - Certification Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Administration, Gerontology, or a related field (preferred). 2–5 years of prior General Manager/Administrator experience preferred, or 5–10 years in Senior Living, Hospitality, Skilled Nursing with 5 of those years at a management level. License Valid driver’s license. Valid license to operate an assisted‑living facility, if mandated by the state in which the community is located.
