Examine diesel-powered vehicles and machinery to identify mechanical issues and faults. Use diagnostic tools and equipment to assess engine performance and other components. Perform repairs on engines, transmission systems, fuel systems, exhaust systems, electrical systems, and other critical parts of diesel equipment. Replace faulty components, such as fuel injectors, fuel pumps, and turbochargers. Conduct routine maintenance to prevent breakdowns, including oil changes, filter replacements, tyre rotations, brake servicing, and more. Run diagnostic tests to check for mechanical faults or performance issues. Ensure that all repairs restore equipment to optimal functionality. Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and services performed, as well as parts and materials used. Ensure that all work complies with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines. This includes adhering to emission standards and ensuring proper disposal of waste materials. Communicate effectively with service providers, drivers and managers to explain problems, repairs, and maintenance procedures. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Grade 12 or equivalent. Must have technical certification or degree in diesel mechanics or related field. Qualified Diesel Mechanic (preferred). Must have EC Driver’s license with PDP. 3-5 years of experience in diesel mechanic work or a related field. Work may require standing, kneeling, and bending for long periods, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, and hearing protection.
