Supervisor Title: Director of Nursing Location: Main Campus (Dobson) Classification Information: FLSA Job Description Summary Curriculum and Clinical adjunct instructors will instruct within their area of expertise using college level measures to determine student success. Curriculum/Clinical adjunct instructors will apply the tenets of critical thinking to the subject matter and will demonstrate flexibility in teaching across educational mediums (classroom, clinical, lab.) as needed. Curriculum/Clinical adjunct instructors will participate in professional development activities. NOTE : The purpose of a continuous recruitment posting is to build a pool of interested applicants should the need for additional adjuncts arise due to student enrollment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct class, lab, or clinical hours as assigned. Collaborate with course coordinator to create professional syllabi that meet Faculty Syllabus Checklist requirements. Create, administer, and accurately assess substantive assignments and activities that support the college’s general education requirements and Quality Enhancement Plan. Meet classes on time and for the full duration of the published class, lab, or clinical time. Notify the Director or VP on Instruction in case of illness. Maintain alternative educational activities for use in case of faculty illness. Support and follow college policies and procedures. Assume responsibility for security, maintenance, and inventory of assigned equipment and supplies. Prepare and submit accurate attendance rosters, student grades, and other assigned documents when due. Assist in textbook selection and maintain updated text information. Participate actively in institutional effectiveness planning by identifying expected student outcomes, assessment means, and improvement strategies based on assessment results. Properly submit assignments and resulting student artifacts when selected for college-wide General Education Assessment. Prepare supplemental teaching activities, such as developing supplemental Moodle course sites, referring weak students for tutoring, consulting with students, and facilitating help or review sessions outside of class time. Instruction in Associate Degree and/or Practical Nursing Program. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Two years of full-time clinical nursing practice as a Registered Nurse with direct patient care. Current unrestricted North Carolina R.N. License. Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree (or significant progress toward) and clinical experience in medical surgical nursing and/or pediatric nursing. Teaching experience at the college or high school level. Physical Demands Regularly required to talk or hear. Frequently required to sit. Occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10± pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
