Company and Job Description: A leading mining group is looking for a skilled Reporting Accountant to oversee group financial reporting, statutory compliance, and operational cost analysis across the business. This role is integral to ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and audit-ready financial information to executive leadership and the board. Key responsibilities include monthly financial reporting, preparation of annual financial statements, tax compliance, group consolidations, and detailed mining cost analysis. The successful candidate will have a strong focus on drafting financial statements using CaseWare, ensuring full compliance with IFRS or IFRS for SMEs standards. The role also requires maintaining close alignment between financial reporting processes and mining operations to support effective decision-making. Key Responsibilities: Financial & Management Reporting Prepare monthly management accounts, reporting packs, and financial statements. Analyse financial results against budgets and forecasts, providing clear variance commentary and insights. Ensure executive and board reporting schedules are delivered accurately and within deadlines. Maintain supporting reconciliations and schedules to ensure the integrity and accuracy of all financial reporting. Annual Financial Statements (CaseWare) Prepare and draft annual financial statements from trial balance through to audit-ready submission using CaseWare. Maintain, update, and roll forward CaseWare files annually. Ensure all disclosures comply with IFRS or IFRS for SMEs requirements. Liaise with external auditors and resolve audit-related queries efficiently. Ensure financial statements are complete, accurate, and fully compliant with reporting standards. Group Consolidation Consolidate financial information across multiple entities and operations within the group. Manage intercompany reconciliations and elimination entries. Ensure the consistent application of accounting policies across all entities. Budgeting & Forecasting Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts. Monitor financial performance against budget and provide detailed variance analysis. Support financial planning processes linked to operational and business changes. Mining Cost & Operational Reporting Report on operational metrics including cost per tonne mined, processed, and sold. Analyse key cost drivers such as contractors, plant operations, labour, diesel, and maintenance expenditure. Monitor production volumes, stockpile movements, and sales performance. Identify cost overruns, operational inefficiencies, and potential business risks. Capital Expenditure Management Monitor and report on capital expenditure projects and related spend. Track commitments against approved budgets and highlight variances where necessary. Tax & Statutory Compliance Prepare provisional and annual tax calculations and submissions. Compile tax packs and liaise with tax advisors, auditors, and relevant stakeholders. Manage SARS submissions, reconciliations, and queries. Ensure ongoing compliance with all statutory and tax obligations while minimising risk of penalties. Balance Sheet & Financial Controls Maintain the integrity and accuracy of balance sheet accounts. Review reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly. Ensure accurate recording of provisions, accruals, and intercompany balances. Audit & Governance Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for external audits. Support audit processes and maintain a high level of audit readiness throughout the year. Strengthen and maintain internal controls, governance standards, and compliance frameworks. Company Secretarial Support Assist with CIPC filings and maintenance of statutory records. Maintain governance documentation and company registers. Support the preparation of board packs, resolutions, and related governance requirements.
