Purpose of the Role The In-School Care Champion will be responsible for implementing the Adolescent and Youth Programme (AYP) in assigned schools and Safe Spaces. This includes delivering the AYP Core Package, facilitating referrals and service linkages, reporting Human Rights Violations, and supporting peer education and layered interventions to ensure consistent psychosocial and biomedical support to learners. Key Duties and Responsibilities Deliver the AYP Core Package to learners across targeted schools and safe spaces. Accurately complete and submit referral forms to internal and external service providers. Track referral follow-ups and confirm service linkages in coordination with linkage officers and beneficiaries. Identify and report Human Rights Violations (HRVs) in a timely and confidential manner. Support In-School Supervisor and LSAs in executing planned school-based activities. Assist in the co-facilitation of peer education sessions and learner engagements in Safe Spaces. Coordinate and support the rollout of layered interventions in schools and community settings. Conduct risk assessments, develop individual service plans, and ensure proper documentation. Ensure operational functionality and smooth delivery of services across assigned clusters. Compile and submit regular reports on activities, referrals, and linkages. Engage and maintain relationships with learners, school staff, community leaders, and stakeholders. Mobilise learners for participation in LSAs and PGT activities, ensuring programme awareness and uptake. Participate in team briefings, planning meetings, workshops, and training as required. Keep up to date with latest trends and knowledge in HIV/AIDS, STIs, and TB fields. Submit daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual plans and reports. Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by line managers. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 (Matric) certificate. Advantageous: Post-matric qualification or certificate in Peer Education, Child and Youth Care Work, or Social Auxiliary Work. At least 1 year of experience in a similar role working with learners and/or communities. Key Competencies and Skills Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills. Strong writing ability for compiling accurate reports. Problem-solving mindset and ability to engage meaningfully with youth. Competent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Understanding of social systems and intervention strategies. Ability to work independently and in collaborative team settings. Effective information and knowledge management skills.
