Responsibilities Provide operational oversight across Flight Line, Short Visit, and Heavy Maintenance functions, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely execution of aircraft maintenance activities in line with operational demands and regulatory requirements; Drive operational performance by monitoring production outcomes, optimising turnaround times, and ensuring fleet readiness in alignment with operational schedules and regulatory requirements; Oversee capacity planning and resource allocation across maintenance activities to support operational demand and minimise aircraft downtime; Identify operational risks, constraints, and performance gaps, and implement corrective strategies to maintain operational continuity and safety standards; Collaborate with Engineering, Operations Control, Supply Chain, and Planning functions to ensure integrated maintenance execution and fleet availability; Drive maintenance productivity, cost efficiency, and quality outcomes to support continuous improvement and operational excellence within the AMO; Provide leadership and oversight to ensure all maintenance activities comply with SACAA Part 145 regulations, OEM maintenance documentation, and internal organisational standards; Drive audit readiness across the department by establishing robust compliance controls, overseeing internal and external regulatory audits, and ensuring the effective implementation and closure of corrective and preventive actions to maintain regulatory integrity and operational safety; Leverage on data analytics to continuously provide specialist insights across the function; Develop and execute long-term maintenance strategy aligned to fleet growth; Drive innovation, digitisation (e.g. TRAX optimisation), and process transformation; Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the AMO; Align technical strategy with business expansion; Drive cross-functional alignment between Maintenance Planning, Engineering, and Flight Operations to ensure integrated maintenance scheduling, optimise aircraft availability, and minimise operational disruptions; Proactively address production constraints and technical challenges/disruptions to maintain operational continuity and reduce aircraft ground time; Develop and manage the maintenance operations budget for Flight Line, Short Visit, and Heavy Maintenance activities, ensuring alignment with organisational financial objectives and operational requirements; Drive cost efficiency across maintenance operations by optimising resource utilisation, managing operational expenditure, and identifying opportunities for cost control without compromising safety, quality, or regulatory compliance; Track and analyse maintenance expenditure against budget, implementing corrective actions where required to maintain financial discipline; Collaborate with Finance, Engineering, and Supply Chain to support effective financial planning, forecasting, and cost management related to maintenance operations; Provide financial insights and operational input to support strategic decision-making, capital planning, and continuous improvement initiatives within the AMC; Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing expert operational insights on maintenance performance, operational risks, and strategic initiatives impacting fleet availability and operational continuity; Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, including Engineering, Flight Operations, Maintenance Planning, Supply Chain, and Executive leadership, to ensure alignment between maintenance operations and organisational objectives; Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure maintenance activities are effectively integrated with operational schedules, engineering priorities, and fleet performance requirements; Proactively engage with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, OEMs, and approved service providers, to manage expectations, resolve operational challenges, and support the safe and efficient delivery of maintenance services; Represent the department in operational forums, strategic initiatives, and regulatory engagements to ensure maintenance priorities, risks, and operational requirements are effectively communicated and addressed; Provide leadership and direction to managers and supervisors, establishing clear performance expectations and accountability for operational, safety, and quality outcomes; Drive a high-performance, safety-focused culture through effective performance discussions, leadership development, and coaching to strengthen team capability and operational excellence; Produce accurate, comprehensive monthly and quarterly reports for the Executive team, ensuring clarity and relevance of information; Translate data into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations that inform decision-making and support strategic outcomes; Maintain high standards of reporting accuracy, consistency, and alignment with organisational objectives, governance requirements, and best practices. Qualifications Grade 12 or Equivalent (Essential); Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or a related Engineering discipline (BEng/BSc/BTech) (Essential); Alternatively, an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Licence complemented by a postgraduate qualification in management or business administration (Essential); Minimum 10-12 years' experience in an Airline/Aviation AMO environment, of which, 5 years must have been in a management role (Essential); Demonstrated experience with regulatory authorities and managing audits (Essential); Extensive exposure to Boeing 737 or similar commercial aircraft (Advantageous); Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and be available afterhours as required to support operational demands.
