Key Responsibilities Technical & Mechanical Duties Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair diesel engines and related systems using diagnostic tools and software. Perform maintenance and repair work according to workshop standards and manufacturer specifications. Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic information. Conduct troubleshooting and problem-solving on mechanical and electrical systems. Ensure all warranty claims are accurately diagnosed using the 3 Cs methodology:Complaint Cause Correction Maintain high levels of workmanship and task performance at all times. Ensure all work completed complies with required quality and safety standards. Workshop Administration Properly record all hours worked and sold. Ensure all lubricants, consumables, and parts used are accurately recorded on job cards. Complete job cards accurately and in line with company procedures. Follow all workshop systems and processes as instructed by management. Maintain accurate documentation relating to repairs, maintenance, and warranty work. Ensure effective communication and feedback to the Workshop Manager regarding job progress and customer-related matters. Breakdown & Customer Support Attend breakdowns as required according to roster schedules. Ensure readiness and proper preparation before attending breakdowns. Communicate professionally and courteously with customers and customer staff. Promote excellent customer service and maintain positive customer relationships. Support the companys reputation as a reliable and trustworthy brand. Uphold the philosophy of "customer is king" through service excellence. Teamwork & Mentorship Maintain constructive working relationships with workshop staff, colleagues, apprentices, and management. Build strong working relationships with the Parts Department. Support and mentor apprentices through practical skills transfer and guidance. Ensure apprentices receive equal learning opportunities and support. Complete all apprenticeship documentation and logbooks accurately and timeously. Participate in relevant training programmes and continuously pursue self-development. Share technical knowledge and learning with team members. Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure all Health and Safety rules and workshop procedures are adhered to at all times. Wear the correct PPE and ensure a neat and professional appearance. Maintain cleanliness and presentation of company vehicles and work areas. Adhere to company policies regarding the use and care of tools, special tools, and company assets. Follow all road traffic regulations while operating company vehicles. Manage working hours and overtime responsibly in accordance with Labour Relations requirements. Skills & Competencies Strong mechanical and technical diagnostic skills. Minimum Requirements Matric certificate. Diesel Trade Test completed. Minimum 510 years commercial workshop experience as a Diesel Technician. Valid Code 14 Drivers License with valid PDP. Strong technical expertise and understanding of diesel vehicle systems. Physically fit and capable of performing technical workshop duties. Good hand-eye coordination. Good communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
