Job Purpose Isilo Steel is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Technical Sales Specialist to develop, manage, and grow sales within the laser cutting, profiling, cut-to-size, fabrication, manufacturing, agricultural, mining, and engineering sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and onboarding new customers, managing customer relationships from initial engagement through to order completion and payment, and providing technically sound solutions aligned to customer quality, tolerance, and processing requirements. Key Responsibilities Identify, develop, onboard, and manage new and existing customer accounts within the steel processing, fabrication, manufacturing, mining, agricultural, and engineering sectors. Promote Isilo Steel’s laser cutting, profiling, cut-to-size, and value-added processing capabilities. Understand customer technical requirements, including material specifications, tolerances, quality standards, and processing requirements. Read, interpret, and assess technical drawings to ensure accurate costing, production feasibility, and customer alignment. Manage quotations, costing, pricing, material utilization, and scrap/off-cut considerations in line with company profitability objectives. Conduct regular customer visits and maintain strong professional relationships with customers and stakeholders. Manage customer projects and orders from onboarding through to production, delivery, after-sales service, and payment follow-up where required. Coordinate internally with sales, operations, procurement, production, quality, and logistics teams to ensure successful order execution and customer satisfaction. Ensure high levels of communication and responsiveness with both internal and external stakeholders throughout the order lifecycle. Support quality assurance requirements and ensure customer expectations are met regarding product quality and delivery standards. Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements to identify new growth opportunities. Assist with tender enquiries, technical discussions, and strategic customer projects where required. Achieve agreed sales, margin, and business development objectives. Minimum Requirements Minimum 5 years proven external sales experience within the steel, laser cutting, fabrication, or manufacturing industry. Strong understanding of steel plate grades, applications, and processing requirements. Strong understanding of: Cut-to-size steel products. Laser cutting processes. Fabrication and manufacturing environments Agricultural and mining sector requirements Existing customer network within relevant industries will be advantageous. Strong ability to read, interpret, and understand technical drawings, steel specifications, tolerances, and fabrication requirements. Strong negotiation and communication skills Computer literate (Microsoft Office, Outlook, ERP systems advantageous) Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel extensively. Qualifications Matric / Grade 12 (Compulsory) Sales or Technical qualification will be advantageous.
