Key Performance Areas Lecturer / Senior Lecturer Leadership The provision of academic leadership at the module(s) level and at the Environmental Sciences Programme(s). Teaching & Learning Provision of theoretically informed and pedagogically sound teaching based on current research in Environmental Sciences. Research Production of accredited research outputs. Postgraduate Supervision Supervision at Honours and Master's level, leading to timely graduation of Master's and Doctoral students. Engagement Participation in engagement activities for the discipline/profession and community; participation in learned societies; application of discipline knowledge to external community. Minimum Requirements Highest qualification: MSc in Environmental Sciences, preferably a Doctoral qualification or progress toward a PhD in Environmental Sciences. Teaching experience: facilitation of learning as a tutor and preferably teaching experience, with 5 years at university level. Research experience: evidence of research activity such as published papers or conference attendance; a good record of research outputs in accredited national and international journals and conferences. Postgraduate supervision: a good record of Master's level supervision with students publishing their research. Engagement: experience with engagement activities and participation in Environmental Sciences societies. Key Competencies Disciplinary Knowledge Good knowledge of the theory and application of Environmental Sciences; in-depth understanding of contemporary theories and applications. Leadership Understanding of leadership and management principles, with well-developed leadership and management skills. Teaching & Learning Appreciation of modern theories of teaching and learning in Higher Education, teaching skills, ability to teach online, and mentoring skills. Research Supervision of undergraduate and honours degrees, well-developed research and grant‑writing skills. Engagement Active participation in environmental societies and understanding of the role of universities in engagement. Personal Attributes People orientated, hard worker, responsible, reliable, creative and innovative. Respectful, honest, punctual and understand protocol.
