Role Overview Safari JOBS is searching for an Anchor/Duty Manager to become part of the passionate team at an award-winning, leading safari hospitality group. The main purpose of the Anchor is to provide a personalised, professional concierge and reception service; as well as host guests in line with the company standards and operating procedures. You will be an integral part of a team dedicated to offering guests an exclusive experience within a carefully protected area known for its high concentrations of big game and frequent leopard sightings. Qualifications Clear criminal record Exceptional English communication skills – written & verbal Speaking a second language – preferable Excellent employment track record – references will be checked Good computer literacy South African National or Expat with citizenship or valid working visa Valid driver’s licence Minimum 4 years’ experience – ideally 2 years as a trainee in a well-recognised 5* hotel or world-class lodge, as an Assistant Manager High standards of service excellence and a passion for the industry Exceptional Food and Beverage knowledge – preparation and terminology Awareness of dietaries and allergies Financial management ability Excellent management ability A clear understanding of basic labour law and disciplinary procedures Understanding of housekeeping and maintenance procedures Desired Competencies A developmental approach to staff A hardworking, cooperative manner Attention to detail Assertiveness Patience and good organisational skills Awareness of developments within the food and lodge industries, as well as international trends in hospitality Personal Attributes Energetic person with a passion for service excellence and willingness to grow Well‑presented, professional and approachable with impeccable manners Deep understanding of decorum required when dealing with high end guests from different walks of life Purposeful, innovative with a kind attitude towards others Leader with initiative, comfortable working alone or with others Humble, salt of the earth, good direction and a mature approach to life Passionate about sustainability and giving back to others Willing to commit to the employer for a minimum period of two years Absolutely loves the idea of living in a bush environment Key Responsibilities Report to the Lodge Manager, and Assistant Lodge Manager Ensure ultimate guest relations in the lodge and maintain "at home" personal attention levels Management and training of the lodge staff in line with the establishment’s Standard of Excellence Maintain highest standards of housekeeping, maintenance, and gardening; ensure all areas clean, tidy, and well-designed Effective financial management through administration of orders and effective stock control Communicate with departmental teams to ensure guest needs are met and operations run effectively Effective daily administration of concierge and reception duties Maintenance of the guest database to achieve service excellence Ensuring the quality and care of equipment and products Active participation and support of the establishment’s conservation message and purpose Perform other tasks as reasonably requested from time to time and as required by the business and/or operation Foster a culture of collaboration and support multi-skilling of staff Compensation & Benefits Monthly remuneration: CTC package NEG. DOE – please advise expectation upon application Accommodation in lodge rooms (room with bathroom or loft room with lounge and bathroom; some senior rooms with basic kitchenettes; furnished with ¾ bed or double bed, desk and chair, curtains, cupboard, bedside table; most rooms have ceiling fans) Facilities: social gatherings or work functions at the pool, bar, TV lounge and pool table, braai areas, gym and school; uniform excluding shoes Onsite staff transport Utilities: water and electricity, free Wi‑Fi, generator Room cleaning service: mandatory at nominal monthly contribution fee.
