Purpose of the Job To co-ordinate the sampling Department activities and manage the Geology Observers to provide accurate and timeous Grade Control and Ore Accounting related information. Minimum Qualifications and Requirements Grade 12 or NQF 4 Equivalent is required COM Advanced Valuation Certificate is required. 1-3 years' experience as a Senior Sampler is required. Competencies Demonstrate knowledge of the most common harmful gases and Mine safety hazards. Demonstrate basic understanding of different activities related to sampling field work. Demonstrate basic understanding of different activities related to sampling observations. Knowledge of basic geology and rock types. Demonstrate knowledge of various sampling techniques. Knowledge of the factors that affect ore grades. Knowledge of the relevant terminology used in mining. Key Performance Areas Determines areas to be observed and sampled. Assign tasks to Observers and Sampling Team. Conducts on the job/underground PTOs on Sample Teams/Observers. Ensures optimum workplace observation coverage and underground sampling as applicable. Captures and authorises information in the relevant data management and software system (such as import Observers studio mapper data to SABLE and authorize accordingly) Control grade control initiatives. Provide Mining with grade information and makes recommendations on dilution control. Provides Shaft Management with accurate information to maximise production and grade control. Informs Production Teams and Shaft Management of significant deviations from quality mining controls. QAQC of Senior Sampler underground cutting data. Captures and authorises sample results on software system. Compiles relevant Grade Observation and Sampling Report for use by Mining personnel and in meetings (such as Grade/Quality Mining Meetings). #J-18808-Ljbffr
