Job Summary Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, South Africas premier electricity utility, is seeking physically capable and motivated individuals for the position of General Worker – Heavy Labouring Tasks . This role is critical to supporting the companys operational activities by performing demanding physical tasks in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. The ideal candidate is dependable, hardworking, and committed to contributing to Eskoms mission of providing reliable and sustainable electricity to the nation. Key Responsibilities Perform heavy manual labour including lifting, moving, and handling materials, tools, and equipment. Assist with construction, maintenance, and operational tasks as directed by supervisors. Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards. Operate basic hand tools and machinery safely and effectively. Support team members in day-to-day tasks and special projects as required. Report any safety hazards, equipment issues, or incidents immediately to the supervisor. Follow company protocols for timekeeping, task reporting, and operational procedures. Required Skills and Qualifications Physical fitness to handle strenuous and repetitive tasks over extended periods. Basic understanding of health and safety practices in an industrial or construction environment. Ability to follow instructions accurately and work under supervision. Good communication skills to interact with supervisors and team members. Reliability and punctuality in attendance and task completion. Experience Previous experience in heavy labouring, construction, maintenance, or industrial work is an advantage but not mandatory. On-the-job training will be provided for candidates demonstrating strong work ethic and physical capability. Working Hours Full-time, typically 40–45 hours per week , with flexibility required for shift work or extended hours depending on operational demands. Must be available to work weekends or overtime when required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Understanding of basic operational and safety procedures in a worksite environment. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Adaptability to physically demanding and occasionally hazardous work conditions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing tasks efficiently. Positive attitude and willingness to learn and take direction.
