The purpose of the Project Manager is to plan, execute, and deliver mechanical engineering projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality and safety standards. The role involves managing resources, coordinating teams, and ensuring compliance with all technical and regulatory requirements. Minimum Requirements: Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering PMP (Project Management Professional) PrEng / PrTechEng (registered with Engineering Council of South Africa) 510 years experience in mechanical engineering or project management Proven track record managing large-scale projects (e.g., industrial, HVAC, mining, or construction) Strong project management and organisational skills Excellent leadership and team management ability Solid understanding of mechanical systems and design principles Financial acumen and budgeting skills Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Problem-solving and decision-making ability Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) No criminal record or ITC listings Own reliable transport with a CODE 08 license Fluent in English & Afrikaans (read, speak & write) High level of initiative, resilience and patience in a sometimes-challenging environment Duties will include: Project Management Lead and manage multiple mechanical projects from initiation to completion Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed to meet deadlines Ensure projects are delivered within scope, cost, and schedule constraints Technical Oversight Review and approve mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations Provide technical guidance to engineers, draughtsmen, and contractors Team Leadership Manage and mentor project teams including engineers, technicians, and subcontractors Allocate resources effectively across projects Foster a high-performance and safety-focused culture Client & Stakeholder Management Act as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders Conduct project meetings, progress updates, and reporting Manage expectations and resolve issues proactively Financial Management Prepare and manage project budgets and forecasts Track costs, manage procurement, and control expenditure Approve invoices and manage project cash flow Risk & Compliance Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations (e.g., OHSA) Maintain quality assurance and control procedures Procurement & Contracts Oversee sourcing of materials and equipment Manage supplier and contractor performance Review and administer contracts and variations
