About the Programme This structured learnership combines classroom-based instruction with real-world emergency response experience. Successful candidates will gain valuable exposure to firefighting operations and community safety initiatives. During the programme, learners will: Participate in supervised firefighting and rescue operations Support emergency response services Take part in practical drills and formal assessments Assist with fire prevention and community awareness campaigns This programme lays a strong foundation for future careers in firefighting, disaster management, and public service. Grade 12 (Matric) certificate Hazmat Awareness certification Medical and physical fitness for strenuous duties No criminal record (background checks will apply) Advantageous: Applicants must also be willing to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and in high-pressure environments. Willingness to undergo intensive training Strong communication and teamwork skills Discipline, integrity, and commitment to service Emotional resilience and ability to work under pressure Key Performance Areas Assist in firefighting and rescue operations under supervision Support fire prevention and community education programmes Maintain firefighting equipment and perform station duties Attend all required training sessions and drills Comply with occupational health and safety standards Support disaster management operations when required Appointments are subject to: Medical fitness and physical assessments Psychometric testing Reference checks Successful candidates will be required to sign a formal learner/firefighter training agreement in line with municipal policies.
