To provide expertise, advice and support by designing and developing logical and physical data models and databases to meetthe needs of the organisations information systems and business requirements. The Data Modeller is responsible for datastandards and procedures, warehousing, distributed data management and information management functions. Duties and responsibilities: Increase operational efficiency and suggestsolutions to enhance cost effectiveness andprevent wastage. Identify process improvements in order tosave costs. Identify, control and escalate potential riskswhich may lead to increased costs. Deliver against operational and cost targets. Adhere to shared company values andservice standards with regard to customerinteraction. Resolve customerdissatisfaction/complaints by takingownership of the problem. Analyse customer feedback to help improvecustomer service. Ensure that delivery is accurate, timeousand of an acceptable standard. Ensure that product knowledge and adviceis technically accurate. Know and understand customer needs inorder to deliver a quality service. Propose ideas to improve customer service. Maintain the data dictionary internal andexternal to the data model. Maintain the business glossary internal andexternal to the data model. Optimize and update logical and physicaldata models to support new and existingprojects. Ensure that the source to target mapping isdone in accordance to the requirement. Maintain all ETL and business rules withinthe data model. Maintain all model related metadata. Develop best practices for standard namingconventions and coding practices to ensureconsistency of data models. Recommend opportunities for reuse of datamodels in new environments. Work with data transformation teams toensure that the model design anddevelopment is properly communicated. Review modifications to existing datamodeling software to improve efficiency andperformance. Manage the flow of information betweendepartments using the data model design. Assure transformation rules are maintained,accurate and consistent. Validate business data objects for accuracyand completeness. Evaluate data models and physicaldatabases for variances and discrepancies. Identify effective activities to address owndevelopment gaps. Create own development plan and reviewplan with team leader. Understand which competencies and skillsare required to be mastered to ensurepersonal development and performance.
